Spent Sunday and Monday prepping the Getrag 265, then installing the clutch, pressure plate, and trans. Hit a snag (as usual) that I did not anticipate. Apparently this was a known "issue" with putting a 5-speed in a bav - the rear trans support, is bolted to the body using special bolts that slide into 2 6 inch channels that run along each side of the underbody next to the trans tunnel. The channels widen over a 1-inch span, which is where you insert the custom bolt head to get the bolt into the slider. Guess what? That is EXACTLY where the fricking rear support lines up with the mounting locations on the trans. CRAP. Thankfully that only happens on one side. I cut the rear support for the automatic trans that I removed to fab a bracket, which uses 2 of those special bolts to attach to the slider and one bolt in the center. That center bolt has a 17mm head that I shaved 2 sides of in order for it to fit snuggly in the channel.
