How to deal with the monster stock brake booster

Post by Nifty »

If you want to use a Motronic FI intake manifold in an E3, you can't keep the monster stock brake booster. Options include going hydroboost from some of the 80s cars which eliminates the booster and makes room, but that has its drawbacks. The easiest solution is to source a smaller booster from an E21 (I think) or do what I did and get one from a mid-80's Alfa Milano. You have to do some fabbin but not much. I got a threaded rod because the stock one was too long. The brake master cyl gets shifted back about an inch or so, so you need to carefully bend the brake lines a bit in order to get everything lined up. You must use a tubing bender to do this.
